The Open Door supports the carers of young children in creating meaningful childhoods. Fiona can meet with parents and/or children to work on a range of developmental issues in children, such as: * understanding and minimising challenging behaviours using positive strategies and creating peaceful environments * encouraging positive social interactions and secure self-esteem, especially in times of transition eg beginning school, moving home, family separation * establishing home support and home schooling programs to assist the development of language/literacy and numeracy skills * supporting families in catering to their child's additional learning needs experienced with Autism, Dyslexia etc. She holds a Masters of Education and is currently employed part-time by the NSW Department of Education & Communities as a Learning and Support Teacher. She has over 12yrs experience as an educator, educational program designer and teacher-trainer - working both locally and internationally in best-practice schools and NGOs. CONSULTING Fiona works with families, to support their child's social, sharing her knowledge and experience as an early childhood and primary educator, emotional and cognitive development. It is held in the warmth of a family home in Berry, NSW. CIRCLES & CELEBRATIONS Each season we gather as a wider community to hear stories from around the world, to reflect and celebrate the seasonal rhythms of the earth and the cycles of our lives. Similar to a playgroup, crafts, it is a space for you and your child to share in seasonal stories, gardening and baking whilst connecting with other children in creative play led by a qualified early childhood educator. CEILIDH PLAY CIRCLE meets on Wednesdays 9.30 & 11.30am in Berry. We bring community together in celebration of each other and the natural world; support early language and literacy development through creative play and storytelling; and consult with families on their child's developmental journey.
